There are many things we do for ourselves to prepare for birth, i.e.- eat better, take our prenatal vitamins, attend YogaFairy Prenatal Yoga classes ;) Then, when the baby is here there is even more preparation for our little humans….As I have said in class, and previous newsletters, I subscribe to a lot of different websites, for either coupons, local weekly activities for my daughter, and just parenting websites. One that I want to share with you is Tinkergarten. Not only are they classes ( which I personally have not had an opportunity to attend one- but have heard amazing reviews from fellow Yogafairy Mama’s and friends of mine), but they send weekly newsletters about random things about your child, and how to assist them with their growth. Being an educator, I always like to hear the “theories” behind some of the things my daughter does. I found their last newsletter fascinating! It was about behavioral schema- yeah- I had not clue what that meant either ;) These are behaviors that children develop at around 18 months, when they are in self directed play ( meaning, they are doing what they want to do- no adult instruction). This reminds me a lot of the Montessori method of teaching/learning. This is the full link to read up on it. I found it really helpful in loosening the strings with my daughter, and letting her explore more on her own.
